Hi Coach,
Good things happen when you keep your opponent out of the middle of the floor.
No coach does that better than Texas Tech's Mark Adams.
Coach Adams is well known in coaching circles for his ability to teach defense and get his team to play hard.
He spent 30 years as a head coach in Division II, NAIA, and junior college ranks before joining Chris Beard’s staff at Little Rock in 2016. (He won the 2010 Juco national championship at Howard College)
He immediately put his imprint on the Texas Tech program when he joined Coach Beard in Luccock by helping turn the Red Raiders into one of the most dominant defensive teams in the country.
When Coach Beard left for Texas it was a no-brainer to promote Coach Adams to head coach.
To no one's surprise, the Red Raiders have been as good as ever...and Coach Adam's No Middle Defense is without question a big reason
why.
We have broken down the Texas Tech System and created three great playbooks to
show you how Coach Adams and the Red Raiders get it done on the defensive end of the floor.
Texas Tech Defensive Bundle
.
Texas Tech's half-court defense forces you to take very tough shots and playing no middle is a great way to create turnovers as a defense.
- It’s a high-risk, high-reward
system that emphasizes help defense and aggressive ball screen coverage.
- It makes defenders second guess themselves on driving to the paint for the fear of drawing an offensive foul.
- It forces offenses
to throw risky skip passes and jump passes that often lead to fast-break opportunities for Adam's team.
- This system is proven to work, as Baylor has adopted it in the last couple of years and utilized it to great success
Forcing dribblers to the baseline and having a helper immediately stop the ball just outside the paint, the driver tends to get pinned against the baseline — almost behind the goal & backboard so there’s not an angle to even attempt a shot.
The
data also suggests that the game’s elite scorers do most of their damage from the middle of the floor.
Here are a couple of quotes on the "No Middle" Defense:
“I love watching film of their team, how hard they play and how physical they
are. You can feel it when you watch it on TV. It comes right through the screen.” - Danny Sprinkle Montana State
“I think that they’re going to do more things, defensively, than what they did last year, I think that they could press more, trap ball screens, switch ball screens, not switch. I think
they could do a lot of things. The one thing that we know that they’re positively going to do is keep the ball on the side and not try to allow (you to get to the) middle.” - Bill Self, Kansas
“Playing Texas Tech is like going to the dentist without Novocaine.” – Kevin Willard, Maryland.
“Maybe I should have picked out the tape of the best defense [in the country] and look[ed] at how we should attack them a few months ago, and in the off-season. Hard with a one-day prep. You got one day between games and you got to figure out how to beat the number 1 defense in the
country.” – Nate Oats, Alabama
Here are three more reasons to take a look at it the Texas Tech Defensive Bundle:1. This is an in-depth online course that you can access anywhere that will show you step-by-step how to install Texas Tech’s no-middle style of defense.
2. You won’t have to worry about going back and forth on looking for the information. You will have it all in one place.
3. The Texas Tech Bundle has over 250 pages of defense just waiting on you! It will show you the formula that stalls out the offense’s regular action and forces them
into uncomfortable situations where they have no choice but to get into isolation.
Individually these 3 playbooks would cost $60 but you can get them right now for only $37 if you purchase the collection this week.
